PROJECT DETAILS
A localized corrosion issue developed at the tank base due to water accumulation around the welded area. This build-up of water led to degradation of the steel surface over time. To address this issue, Denso recommended and supplied the Steelcoat Tank Base Protection System designed to create an effective run-off profile to prevent water from stagnating around the weld area, while also providing long-term corrosion protection for the tank base steel surface.
The solution was carefully specified to match the site conditions and ensure optimal performance. The system components incorporated: Denso Primer D which was used to promote superior adhesion to the steel surface. Denso Superlight Profiling Mastic was applied to eliminate voids and form a sloped profile, facilitating effective water run-off away from the weld area. A combination of Denso Hi-Tack Tape and Denso Ultraseal RT Tape provided a continuous, watertight seal to protect the vulnerable weld zone. Our Basecoat Kit, comprising a robust cementitious layer, was applied to enhance mechanical durability. Finally, our Acrylic Topcoat was used to ensure long-term UV resistance and environmental UV stability.
Together, these components formed a cohesive system that created a sloped, water-shedding profile while delivering durable corrosion protection for the tank base steel surface.
